Final Review of Blog

This is not a post, rather a wrap up of what this blog was, and is, all about. Media surrounds in  our day to day lives. Based on the variety of my posts it seems nobody can escape it except for the remote villages in the Amazon. Maybe we should not try and escape it though. Maybe it is inevitable and we should just learn to accept it. I believe that we should learn to accept the continual waves of media. Yet we should be conscious of what we, and others, are looking at. We should know and understand what the media is trying to get across. Is it trying to trick us? Or is it attempting to drive home an important message? Media isn't bad, it is inevitable. We may as well accept it. If we do accept it though, we musty regulate it and understand it.

This blog has been an eye opener for me. I did not honestly realize how much media effects our daily lives and how much of it we consume in a single day. I thought maybe video games were free from it. I was wrong based on one of my earlier posts. There is also a lot more product placement in movies and shows than I had previously noticed.

The project itself was a school assignment and it was actually one of the more enjoyable ones. It was fun blogging a couple times a week and seeing how many people looked at my blog. It was a fun as well as informative experience and I hope that everyone who has read my blog has come out a little more informed on media and how it affects us.

American Idiot

Don't wanna be an American idiot. The first line of the song American Idiot by Green Day and the first line of my last blog.

This is one of my favorite songs and it is really good. It gets you up beat and ready to go. It is very fast paced and has a great rhythm. It is a song that is meant to say, I do not want to blindly follow America. America is great and all, but it can make some mistakes and I do not want to follow it through those mistakes and stereotypes. It is saying that I am my own person.

That is what media wants us to think we are. Just another person that is like everyone else. We are not. If we are to prevent ourselves from being consumed by media was must realize that each and everyone of us is different and attempting to be like other people is just stupid. Media uses our insecurities against us and in order to fight the on coming waves of media we must realize that there is no point in being insecure. We should not be ashamed of who we are and we should quit trying to be like other people. That is what this song wants us to do.

What Happened To Family?

This post will be about the t.v. channel ABC Family. Although it might be more accurate to leave out the family part. Yes once in a while they have a day where they show old Disney movies or during Christmas they show some family oriented movies, but in most of the time its stuff like this...

These pictures do not seem very family friendly. The word liar appears multiple times, some are in provocative positions, and almost all are wearing revealing clothing. It does not look like families should be watching this show.
Looking at any of these photos, I really do not think families with kids 12 and under should be watching this channel.

Fast 6

This is a commercial for the movie Fast 6. I do not even need to see the commercial to know that I am going to go see the movie but the commercial does make me more excited to see it.
Between the music, cars, and girls, any guy will want to see this. This trailer is pretty much geared towards guys. There are hot girls dancing on cars, there are tanks, there is up-beat music, and there lots of guns. Granted not all guys like these things but most guys do. Even a lot of girls like this kind of thing.

What is this kind of thing though. This is a move trailer that pretty much supports the stereotype that girls should be wearing as little clothing as possible and dancing on cars. If  girls are doing anything at all that is important they must be hot and wearing revealing clothing. I do believe many people try and look past these stereotypes, but they are continually pushed on  us so it is very difficult.

By the way, about two hours before posting this I saw the movie and it was awesome. The trailer depicts everything the movie has, but the movie has much more. It was outstanding and yes there were a lot of hot girls dancing on cars, but there were also girls that had character development and it did not matter how they looked or what they were doing. Their characters had depth and that is important just as much as looking good.

The Big M

Its the double yellow arches. The big M. Its McDonalds. Everyone has seen it. When you are driving or walking down the street you will recognize it. Why though?

It is because everyone knows or has been told about it. Even if you have not ever eaten it, you still know about it because it has either been told to you by a friend, been in a commercial, or in the news. A friend may have had it and wanted you to try it or they may have been in the news for some new health scandal.

To be honest I just ate some about 2 hours before posting this. Some people believe McDonalds is the reason for obesity and other health problems and that may be true, but by buying and consuming it they are consenting to it. It famous for being McDonalds.

Standing in the Hall of Fame

This blog is about the commercial for the MLB fan cave. I saw it while watching the World Series and it now seems like a good commercial to analyze.

This commercial wants you to enter in a contest to join the MLB fan cave. It uses the background song in order to make you feel great and inspired. If you join the fan cave than what this song is saying will happen to you. At least that is what they want you to think.

I am sure its pretty cool to be in the fan cave. I am a huge fan of baseball and i used to play it as well. The fan cave does not seem all that appealing to me though. I would rather be sitting right up with everyone else while watching a game and not be somewhere special. The fans are 50 percent of a baseball game. Although with the song it does seem pretty cool. That is the goal of the commercial.

The iconic symbol of Coca-Cola

We all have scene it. Its the symbol for Coca-Cola.

These words have lasted through generations. Ever since Coca-Cola was invented these red letters have been recognized across the world. It is has come to dominate the soft drink scene along with Pepsi, but Coca-Cola is more popular.

All of these symbols can be easily recognized and all of them will be recognized for a very long time. Why are they so recognizable though? It is because the brand has gained so much popularity that even if you do not drink soda you will still recognize it. It has become a symbol for hard work and what people want after a long day of sweat and toil. It has become a symbol for fun in the sun and a time to party. It has become its own way of life almost. It represents a  life in which you work hard during the day and party during the night. It's Coca-Cola.
